The question I have is why didn't it "work"?. If the early church founders were acting under the guidance of the freshly acquired Holy Ghost are we to assume they were misled?. I think not. I'm not sure how long the early church "last", but a quick review of the book of Acts brings to mind some reasons. Persecution, for one, had to play a very big role. Let's remember also the "infightings", or disagreements among the leaders. This just to say, if there was an "end" to the early church, we still see that it came from the outside. But the Soviet Union proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that socialism will not work in this world. I don't know how old you are, but if you remember the poor people had to stand in line for hours for things as simple as toilet paper - if they could find it at all. And universal healthcare would be great in a perfect world, as well... but it does not work in practice. No economy can support decent care for everyone. I have a friend in England who substantiated an email I got that said that if you are over age 59 in England, you can forget major surgeries. A mutual frind of ours had a major bypass surgery. She told me that if he had lived in England, he would have been dead years ago (This was not his first "stint") There is a provision in this bill to put senior citizens out to pasture. Besides, this "health care" bill was never about health or care. Read the link in my previous comment.
